We didn’t have nearly the number of entries that we had last season, however, the desserts that were judged were excellent. At least that is what the judges told me!
Here Judges, Dick Larson, Arnie Huether, Nora Minor, Josie Fehring and Bill Knecht go through the line to fill their plates with samples of each dessert.
Then they all had a seat in the Large Hall and sampled everything using coffee to cleanse their palettes. Then they voted on paper and we took the votes to our office. No one was able to find out who won the contest until the potluck.
Next on the Agenda was a Scavenger Hunt which took the participants on a chase through both Winter Ranch and Trophy Gardens. The contestants were trying to find items on sites/lots in both parks. There were 20 to find and none of the teams found them all. The object is to find as many of the items as you can in the shortest time.

For some reason, the date is wrong on this camera. These were really taken on Halloween!

Judy Foley looked so cute!
We had a nice crowd for the Potluck!
Prizes were awarded for the best Pumpkin Desserts.
Karen Hockmeier won 1st place for her Pumpkin Praline Pie. I hear it was yummy. It was gone before you knew it!
Debbie McDaniels won 1st Place for her Pumpkin Parfaits.
Karen Larson won 1st Place for her Pumpkin Bars.
Then we gave out the prize for the Scavenger Hunt. Virginia Darby and Nicole Kenward won. They found 16 out of the 20 items and were in a lot faster than their next competition from Trophy.
BEAN BAG BASEBALL
Our next event for the day was supposed to be a Bean Bag Baseball Tournament between Trophy Gardens and Winter Ranch for the coveted Squash Trophy. However, there was some mixup at Trophy Gardens and only a few Trophy people showed up and they were supposed to be their cheerleaders. So, the Squash Trophy remains with Winter Ranch although we would have much preferred to win it with gusto instead of forfeit!
However, we had two teams of Winter Ranch players so they played each other. The game must go on!
Team B: Bob Jones, Dick and Barb DeGaramo, Della and Marvin Orndorff, Howard McDaniel, Nora Minor, Brenda Granger, Chuck and Pat Cullett and Jennifer Williams

Team A: Judy Foley, Betty Smith, Arnie Huether, Ron Jensen, Mary Jane Jensen, Rita Huether, Donna Rohrschneider and Lavere Groth (at bat) Dick Larson, Patti Schoolcraft and Macel Groth.
This was Pat and Chuck Cullett’s first time playing and they both were able to help their team by scoring points.
In the end Team B won the game by 5 to 2.
