I think it was a hit. We have it scheduled again next month on January 12th .and it looks like we can start at 3 PM like a regular Roundup. We were just testing how it would go yesterday and we actually can’t believe it went that smoothly. Our Horse Race Team were like pros!   Next time if we can get a Concession crew that doesn’t mind missing the races, we will serve food all during the races because that it what it seemed people were looking for.
Thanks to Lee Clement and Josie Fehring for taking pictures for the blog for us.

Thanks for Jeff Specer and Theresa Corwin for stocking the soda for our concessions and for picking up our donuts and some groceries this week.

Thanks to Karen Timko for coordinating the Caroling on Monday evening and to Jennifer Williams for serving cocoa and cookies and to Barb DeGaramo for making all the cookies for the group and to all 47 of the carolers who went out and made our spirits brighter.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Soup Dinner last Friday night. Our cooks were Ellen Hicks, Linda Thompson, Pat Mower, Pam Jensen, Brenda Nolte, and Karen and Harrel Hockemeier. And thanks much to all the Pickleball people who helped to serve and cleanup after the event. I forgot to thank them at the meeting but everything went smoothly thanks to them. It was a great evening!

Thanks to all the volunteers who are registering for bus trips and selling tickets and various other things this morning:   Judy Miller, Mary Hazlett, Marlene Miska, Shirley Mills, Marcy Deschamps, Dianna Drake, Barb DeGaramo, Kay Wilburn, and Donna Hulsey.

It takes a ton of volunteers every week to keep our activities going. Thank you all VERY much!

Keep Christ In Christmas Magnets for your vehicles are now available in the Business Office for $5.

Paperwork:  Please return any paperwork needed.  The form for keys for your unit is very important.  If you want the office or anyone else to have your key, it must be in writing so get those forms in.

Recycling:  Wandra Wheeler takes recycle items, however, please rinse out your cans before you bring them to be recycles.

The Christmas Stocking Project was a big success again.  We filled 279 stockings for the Christmas Posada in Little Mexico.  Thanks again to Barb DeGaramo who coordinated the event.

Activities Welcome Packet – If you are new to the resort in the 2015-2016 Season, please stop in the office to pick up your Activities Welcome Packet. It includes a lot of valuable information that we’ve put together for you. It also includes some free tickets to entice you to join in some of our activities. There is a price for the packet. We need your picture for the Blog so if you are a couple, you both need to stop in. We’ll take your picture and then hand you the packet. I can guarantee that it is worth it!

Conversational Spanish for Beginners will be starting on Monday, January 18th at 1:15 to 2:45 PM in the Loft and every Monday after for a total of 6 weeks. The class will be taught by Sally Stephenson who has taught here before. The cost of the course is $45 and will be collected at the end of the first class. This amount includes all your weekly course handouts. Just bring your own pen.

Jams – The next jam will be this Saturday, December 19th.   Bob and Kathy Doddridge
The Can Am Team is up this week.

  • No dance this week because Friday falls on Christmas.
  • No dance on January 1st.
  • The next dance will be on New Year’s Eve. The dance will begin at 8 PM. Tickets are still available in the Activities Office if you haven’t reserved your seats yet.
  • There is no dance on New Years Day.
  • Our first Agency Dance will be January 8th at 7 PM.  Tickets are $8.

  • Trophy Ranch Doggie Park Fundraiserwill be on December 29th at 3 PM.  Carol Earley will be providing the music for Art Selhorn who will become Frank Sinatra and some of his other friends.  We know you’ll enjoy him.  We will be passing the hat for the entertainment.  Linda Sherman and her gang will be serving Weiner Dogs, Chihuahua Dogs, Schnauzer Dogs served with Boston Terrier Baked Beans, German Shepherd Potato Salad, Yorkshire Pudding, and Milkbone Cookies!  I’m sure you can see the doggie theme going on here!  The money will go to pay for chemicals, signage, a bench, yard toys, etc.

Christmas Lighting Contest: We will announce the winners at the Christmas Party tomorrow.

Christmas Party: The Christmas Party is scheduled for December 24th at 2 PM. We will be entertained by a young singer, song writer and guitarist from Razz Ma Tazz. He is Tony Longoria and he plans on going into the music business. He has been doing a lot of Christmas gigs this season. We will pass the hat for the performance. Bring an appetizer to share with your table. We think this will work better than one huge table as some people at the end, don’t get too much! Coffee, Iced Tea and Punch will be served. Instead of exchanging gifts this year, we are going to donate to a local animal shelter. Barb DeGaramo is coordinating with the animal shelter.

Christmas Candlelight Service will begin at 7 PM on December 24th.  It is a beautiful service and is non-denominational.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Christmas Dinner will begin on 1 PM in the Large Hall. It looks like we’ll have a number of tables on Christmas Day. We noticed that we only have one person signed up to help cleanup the kitchen and pack up the trash. We’ll again have our truck outside so that the trash can be loaded on it. Just don’t dump liquids into the trash bags as that really makes a mess and we just washed the truck! Also, if you haven’t picked up your turkey or ham money, it is available in the Activities Office.

New Year’s Eve – The Large Hall will be closed for setup and decorating on December 31st from 9 to 6 PM. The Room Setup People will start at 10 AM. Nora’s  Decorating Crew will start at 12:30 PM.

WR/TG Bus Trip to the San Juan Basilica is scheduled for January 4th at 9 AM. This will be a guided tour and you’ll be able to see parts of the basilica that you wouldn’t normally see.   The best part is that the decorations for Christmas are still up. The nun that gives these tours told me that this would be the best time for a tour because there will be less people after Christmas. You can sign up for this trip after the meeting today in the back of the hall.

WR/TG Bus Trip – The Giddy Up & Go Singles Group will also have a trip to Mr. Gatties on January 5th leaving at 11:00 AM. You can sign up in the Activity Office

There is a Grand Prize for the most chips earned.

Hidalgo Lights – We don’t have any more Hidalgo Lights scheduled. If you would still like to go on the bus, raise your hands. We could get another one going if we have enough people interested. The lights will be on until the 31st.

BUS ETIQUETTE RULES: Just a friendly reminder of our new rules that have been agreed upon between Winter Ranch and Trophy Gardens. The rules are on the bulletin boards in the Large and Small Halls as well as being on the Blog under the Bus Trip Information Tab. If you are going to miss a bus trip, you need to notify the Activity Office that you will not be going at least one business day before the trip. Otherwise, a $2 charge will be assessed and when paid will be given to the Bus Driver as part of his tip. So, if you have missed a bus trip, please stop in the office and we’ll take your $2 and give it to Jack.
